I'm a servant leader: I lead engineers with trust, empathy and openness. I like a tricky problem, but I like solving it together even more.

THE JOURNEY: JUNIOR DEV TO MANAGER

  1. Associate Developer2014
  2. Application Developer & Scrum Master2015
  3. Senior Developer & Scrum Master2018
  4. Development Lead2019
  5. Development Engineering Manager2024
  • Lead a team of engineers across a legacy Java monolith and a modern Kubernetes microservice stack.
  • Get to know the people I work with and build strong relationships, because that's where great work starts. I spent a year in Brno, Czechia, working side by side with our developers there.
  • Grow people by giving them ownership, context and room to stretch, and clear the blockers in their way.
  • Keep work and decisions visible: open about priorities, trade-offs and incidents.
  • Champion AI as a way to support and empower engineers, never to replace them.
  • Technical work is still a core part of who I am: I dive into the hard production problems alongside the team, from logs to load balancers to root cause.

  • Empower, don't replace. AI should make engineers more capable, not less necessary. The goal is to take the toil off people's plates so they can spend more time on the problems that need judgment, creativity and care.
  • Engineers stay in the driver's seat. AI suggests, people decide and own the result.
  • Be transparent about it. Talk openly about what works, what doesn't and where the risks are, including security and quality. When things go wrong, give people the chance to course correct.
  • Lead with empathy and trust. I trust people to do great work, and I know everyone has something going on in their lives. Technology should make room for the human side of work, not squeeze it out.
  • Embrace failure. Make it safe to experiment and to get it wrong, share what we learn, and help each other level up.
